Chairman’s Welcoming

Dear Sir or Madam, dear friends of metallurgy and materials science!

It is a great pleasure and honour for me to act as chairman of the 8th ESTAD & METEC. This event, more than almost any other, embodies the innovative strength and future viability of the metallurgy and steel industry.

Particularly in times of profound transformation, professional exchange and international networking take on special significance. ESTAD provides an excellent platform for this, enabling us to jointly develop solutions for a sustainable, climate-friendly and, at the same time, competitive industry.

Research, technology and industrial practice come together here, creating important conditions for the future of our industrial location. I am convinced that this congress will provide valuable impetus for the further development of our industry.

At the same time, the event offers the opportunity to deepen existing partnerships, initiate new collaborations and actively shape change together.

To provide a dedicated forum for this field, the VDEh will organise the STEELSIM - the dedicated conference on simulation of steelmaking processes - taking place in autumn 2027 in Düsseldorf. More information especially for authors will follow.
